steampunk

That’s the elegant idea from Neal Bridgens handmade from brass, copper and even oak: “yes it’s real, not femo or glue or paint or found parts, it’s all hand made using jewellers techniques — it should probably outlive me (not the iPod mind you). It’s not particularly for sale, I use it and rather like it, but I’m not against offers being made…Much to my surprise about 20 people a day come by to look at this. Thanks for your interest! ”
I love deeply love that!

chimajarno

…all my necklaces are a collage of countries, words and memories. I’m just the link between the objects thrown away and their new noble life. I’m the hand that picks, cleans and brings them to their new life story … Probably I did’nt discover anything except from my unique “passion” in what I do …”

Reading these words, I was touched and captured during my research of the eco-artists: she is Chiara Martina Jarno Trentin aka “Chimajarno and I wrote about “Pearl Necklace? Buttons thanks!” in my FreeStyle Blog first and now in Refashinoso.

chimajarno3

“Some years ago I found a box full of buttons collected over the years by my grandmother and I started to watch these little wonders with new eyes”.

chimajarno1

This month she is involved in: “Salerno, WASTE IN SEARCH OF AUTHOR – SECOND LIFE (third edition)” & “Barcelona, at the Gallery of Contemporary Art D_Spazio, Calle Ribes 99″. She is always very active within “Art and Fashion Recycling” exhibitions. Find out more about her look at Chimajarno’s blog.

Growth in the culture of recycling and conservation Gibi learned first to decorate herself with her fantasies and then did it with others.

Each pin, each cap, every creative necklace is a mirror of her mood, of thoughts and situations.

IMG_8453

Scrap of all kinds, costume jewelry, lace, fabrics, wood wastes, toys forgotten by the fast growing, parfume samples, pearls, ribbons, braids and glue marry sensations that come from outside and inside of this artist.

Little things became real symbolic messages because they are full of stories and smells of past; concepts to wear, decorative rhetoric.

pet_plastic_cosmetic_bottles

Gülnur Özdağlar since 2008 she has been producing cups, jewellery and home decoration accessories by recycling PET bottles: have a look at these amazing necklaces, earring, rings…

neck1

earings

She collects, heats, cuts, melts, drill holes into and reshapes PET bottles. She thinks that the real solution is “upcycling” rather than plain recycling. Her aim is to substitute with labour and artistic value the characteristics that the material loses during transformation, thus obtaining a product of higher value.

neck2

ring2ring

She believes that in the future there will be a plastic material that will not proceed from the cradle to the grave, but that will return to the cradle with no loss, thus giving rise to a new plastic material, that this will “determine the way shapes are created” and that the real problem will not be recycling, and not even upcycling, but “karmic compensation”. In other words she believes that there will be a better world.

Find out more about Gülnur Özdağlar.

Enjoy your green life.
